    A large part of Healthwatch Sandwell’s role is to represent the patient voice and work in partnership with health and social care commissioners and providers.

    In July 2017 Healthwatch Sandwell (HWS) visited the Heart of Sandwell Day Hospice at Rowley Regis Community Hospital, Moor Lane, Rowley Regis to evaluate the service.

    This project endeavored to engage with as many adult Carers as possible but especially those who do not necessarily identify as carers or those who are not currently accessing services to understand their needs in relation to support for carers.

    The Day hospice is for anyone with a life limiting illness that requires specialist palliative care support and provides support with physical, emotional, spiritual and social concerns, which come with a life limiting illness, over a structured 12-weekprogramme.

    The Healthwatch Sandwell report “The hidden impact of Covid-19 on carers” reflects the experiences of being a carer in Sandwell during the Covid-19 pandemic and highlights the hidden impacts on carers health and wellbeing 18 months on from the outbreak of the pandemic.
