Priority Project One – Access to Primary Care – GP

A priority project for 2022/23 is exploring The patient experience of accessing primary care services – this report gives an insight to initial findings.

Healthwatch Sandwell found residents of Sandwell regularly express frustrations with obtaining G.P. Surgery appointments and there are not enough G.P. appointments available to meet daily demand. Appointment allocation is on a first come, first served basis which may create inequalities in access for patients and not attend to patients with the highest health needs.

Lets Talk Service in Sandwell

“At Let’s Talk we support anyone 18+ that’s feeling lonely/isolated in the Black Country. I cover the Sandwell area. We offer up to 6, 1-1 sessions tailored to each individual. These are focused on building up their confidence/tackling barriers they are facing by signposting towards social activities, services and volunteering. We also support them into these by attending with them if needed.

We also have our own virtual and face to face group sessions and walks. There is no end date to these and they can attend for as long as they like!
