Volunteering during Covid-19

Healthwatch Sandwell

Healthwatch Sandwell support for Volunteering

Staff at Healthwatch Sandwell are a recognised signposting organisation for the NHS Volunteers Responders Scheme and are being actively encouraged to support our local community by offering their time to volunteer during the Covid-19 crisis.

We recognise that we cannot do all the functions we usually deliver so we are now looking at how we can support our local communities in a coordinated

approach through volunteering. All staff will be able to volunteer their time, during usual working hours, to support the response to the Coronavirus through these

four main channels; either supporting the local authority volunteering efforts, local Community and Voluntary Sector Councils who are co-ordinating service responses in many areas, the NHS volunteer service, or Covid-mutual aid.

– Hospital discharge teams
– Community pharmacists
– NHS 111 and ambulance trusts
– Community health trusts that need volunteer support for patients leaving hospital
– Local authorities

Coronavirus – donate or volunteer to help Sandwell residents

We are undertaking a huge operation to make sure the most vulnerable people in Sandwell have access to what they need during the Covid-19 pandemic. We have already received lots of kind offers of help, but we need more.

SCVO provides a range of support to local voluntary groups and community organisations wishing to involve residents through voluntary activity.  This support aims to help local organisations improve their ability to attract and recruit new volunteers, and to ensure that volunteers have a safe, productive and beneficial experience.
