Volunteer with Healthwatch Sandwell

We would like to show our appreciation to our wonderful team of 18 Volunteers at Healthwatch Sandwell.

Although 2020 has been a challenging year with the COVID 19 pandemic and volunteer activities have been restricted, our volunteers have remained faithful and have focussed on the aim of improving health and social  care for people in Sandwell. Our volunteers have embraced technology and we have had regular meetings on Zoom or MS Teams.

Going forward we have lots of plans to restart the programme commencing with a celebration picnic on 7th June.

About our volunteers:

Healthwatch Advisory Board

In delivering Healthwatch Sandwell, we are advised by our Healthwatch Advisory Board who are drawn from members of the public.

This group provides advice on:

  • Healthwatch Sandwell work programme priorities
  • The Enter and View programme to monitor the quality of care
  • Identifying key public concerns
  • Community engagement activity

They act as the voice of the people and make sure that Healthwatch Sandwell adheres to the core principles of, confidentiality, respect, feedback, transparency and influence.

Our Healthwatch Advisory Board are part of our volunteers’ group and are led my John Taylor (non-volunteer). It comprises of the following members:

This is some of the things they say about volunteering:

“I want to help improve health and social care services in Sandwell”

“helped me build upon my confidence and personal skills”

“it has helped my communication skills by communicating with different

aged groups regularly”

If you would like to join our team of volunteers, training and support is available for every role, and experience is not essential. The most important thing we look for is a belief that people in Sandwell should have the best health and social care services possible, and a desire to be part of making that happen.

Our volunteering opportunities include:

  • Marketing and Promotions
  • Administration with projects.
