Right Care Right Here update and Primary Care Listening Exercise - 2nd October 2015
This meeting took place on Friday 2nd October at the Yemeni Community Centre, Tildasley Street, West Bromwich.

Angela Poulton who is the Programme Director for the Right Care Right Here Partnership. Right Care Right Here is a partnership between the NHS and the Local Authority in Birmingham and Sandwell. It is committed to improving healthcare in the Sandwell and heart of Birmingham areas, ensuring that care is delivered in high quality environments closer to where people live. Angela gave an overview of the program to date, including the provision of the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital which will be an acute care hospital. Additionally how services will be delivered at Sandwell, City and Rowley Regis hospitals. The presentation given can be seen below.
Our second presentation was given by Kally Judge, from Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Groupo (CCG) on the Primary Care listening exercise which is currently being carried out until 9th October. This listening exercise gives the CCG is asking people what is working well and what can be improved in local GP services. Two public events have been held recently. The presentation given by Kally san be viewed below.
Our final speaker was Alan Kenny, Director of New Hospital Development at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. Alan confirmed that planning permission for the new hospital had recently been given by Sandwell Council, that the site had now been cleared and that development was sheduled to begin in January 2016. It was planned for the building to be handed to the Trust in July 2018 with services being transferred from October 2018. Services would continue to be delivered at Sandwell, City and Rowley hospitals with services at Rowley hospital that were identified by Right Care Right Here being delivered early January.
In terms of parking for disabled visitors and patients at the new hospital, Alan confirmed that the charging rateas would continue as present with concessions continuing to be available.
